Teaching Assistants are central to inclusion, learning and pupil confidence, yet too often, their professional development is piecemeal, optional or overlooked altogether. The TA CPD Hub has been designed to change that.
Developed by Amjad Ali of Try This Teaching, the TA CPD Hub is a fully‑fledged, year‑round CPD ecosystem built exclusively for Teaching Assistants. It is not a one‑off course, a static toolkit or an occasional webinar. Instead, it offers a coherent, structured approach to developing TA practice over time, grounded in the realities of classrooms and everyday school life.
The Hub has been built backwards from impact. Starting with what effective TAs actually need in order to support learning, behaviour, inclusion and independence, it provides practical tools, focused learning and space for reflection — helping Teaching Assistants grow in confidence, clarity and professional identity.
Through a combination of short, purposeful learning inputs, resources and regular opportunities to reflect and refine practice, the TA CPD Hub supports schools to move beyond “training days” and towards sustained professional learning for their support staff. It works equally well for individual TAs as it does for whole‑school or trust‑wide implementation, making high‑quality TA development accessible regardless of context or budget.
Most importantly, the TA CPD Hub recognises Teaching Assistants as professionals in their own right. It creates a sense of belonging, shared language and collective ambition, supporting schools to take TA development seriously - because if we are serious about inclusion, we must be serious about the people delivering it every day.
